What’s New in NetSuite’s 2026.1 Release: Smarter Controls, Stronger Security & More Operational Power
The 2026.1 release of NetSuite delivers meaningful updates across security, accounting, pricing, project management, and inventory control. We’re excited about what this means for our clients: tighter security, improved efficiency, and new tools that support smarter growth.
At Zastro, we know that every NetSuite update brings new features, but not every feature is relevant to your business. That’s why we take the time to dig into each release, understand what’s changing, and highlight what matters most to our customers. Here’s a breakdown of the most impactful updates and what they could mean for your business.
Multiple Sessions per User Now Requires 2FA
Security takes a front seat in NetSuite 2026.1.
What’s Changed?
In NetSuite 2025.2, users could maintain up to three simultaneous sessions automatically after upgrade.
With 2026.1, that capability is no longer enabled by default.
- An Administrator must enable Multiple Sessions per User via:
- Setup > Company > Enable Features
- Only users with 2FA-required roles can use this feature
- If a user has multiple roles, all roles must require 2FA
- The feature is no longer automatically activated during upgrade
Why It Matters
This update significantly enhances account security by ensuring that users accessing multiple concurrent sessions are protected by two-factor authentication. It strengthens compliance and reduces exposure to unauthorized access, especially important for organizations managing sensitive financial and operational data.
Zastro Tip: Before enabling multiple sessions, review your role configuration and 2FA enforcement to ensure a smooth transition.
Close Manager Dashboard Portlet
Month-end close just got more structured.
NetSuite 2026.1 introduces the Close Manager feature, providing centralized visibility and control over your financial close process.
How to Enable
- Go to Setup > Company > Enable Features
- On the Accounting subtab
- In Advanced Features, check Close Manager
Once enabled, the Close Manager portlet is automatically added to your Home dashboard.
Benefits
- Consolidate outstanding tasks, transaction amounts, and KPI’s
- Track close tasks in real time
- Assign ownership and due dates
- Improve accountability and reduce bottlenecks
- Standardize close procedures across teams
For organizations seeking faster, more predictable month-end closes, this feature is a welcome addition.
Advanced Pricing: Price Rules
Dynamic pricing strategies are now easier to manage.
How to Enable
- Go to Setup > Company > Enable Features
- On the Transactions subtab
- In the Sales section, check Advanced Pricing
Then manage your rules via:
- Lists > Accounting > Price Rules
From there, you can:
- View existing rules
- Create new rules
- Apply complex pricing logic
Why This Is Exciting
Advanced Price Rules open the door for:
- Customer-specific pricing
- Promotional structures
- Margin protection strategies
Early indications suggest significant flexibility for organizations looking to optimize revenue strategy without manual overrides.
Projects: Add & Edit Tasks in Bulk with Inline Editing
You can now edit or add tasks in bulk for existing projects using Add/Edit Tasks in Bulk, which opens an inline editing window for faster updates.
Availability
- Enabled by default on standard project forms
- Hidden by default on customized forms
To enable on customized forms:
- Go to Customize > Customize Form > Sublists
- Select:
- View Project – Show Add/Edit Tasks in Bulk button
- Create Project – Show Add/Edit Tasks in Bulk button
Impact
- Reduce manual task entry
- Speed up project setup
- Improve planning accuracy
- Save significant admin time
For services-driven organizations, this is a meaningful usability improvement.
New: Consigned Inventory Management
NetSuite 2026.1 introduces Consigned Inventory Management, giving businesses stronger control over vendor-owned inventory stored in their facilities.
What It Supports
- Vendor consigned items
- Purchasing and receiving workflows
- Outbound fulfillment
- Vendor returns
- Inventory counts
- Replenishment
- Inventory adjustments
It uses a distinct set of inventory statuses to clearly differentiate consigned stock from owned inventory.
Why It Matters
If you manage vendor-owned stock:
- Improve visibility and accuracy
- Maintain proper valuation
- Ensure adequate stock levels
- Reduce reconciliation errors
This is especially impactful for wholesale distribution, retail, and manufacturing environments where consignment arrangements are common.
What This Means for Your Business
The 2026.1 release focuses on three key themes:
- Stronger Security Governance
- Improved Financial Control
- Operational Efficiency at Scale
These enhancements support mature, growth-focused NetSuite environments.
